Buffalo Ridge Golf Course, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

KEARNEY — Nebraska Keno was approved to operate at the Buffalo Ridge Golf Course in north Kearney by the Buffalo County Commissioners during their meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

Michael Nevrivy, representing Nebraska Keno, appeared before the commissioners with the request and stated they wish to add the golf course to their list of locations.

Nebraska Keno operates several sites throughout central Nebraska including Hastings, Blue Hill, Curtis, Broken Bow, Central City, as well as others in Burwell, Albion and Crete.

Nevrivy mentioned they are several months out from being able to offer keno on a phone application, he did note that it could only be played within the clubhouse or designated location.

When questioned by the commissioners, Nevrivy said five percent and up to 10 percent of the money generated by Keno returns to the county as tax.

The commissioners approved the request.

There were several code amendments the commissioners considered including a general amendment related to a supermajority vote, submissions to the planning commission for amendments, binding recommendations of the planning commission, procedural nature of subdivision resolutions, road and street design and livestock confinement facilities.

The commissioners approved the amendments and will take up the adoption of the final draft of the proposed zoning and subdivision resolutions, amendments and zoning map during their meeting on March 25 at 9:15 a.m.

During the board of equalization, the commissioners approved a number of permissive exemptions for education, religious charitable, personal property and nursing facilities.

The educational organization included the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska; religious organizations included Faith United Church and St. James Catholic Church; charitable organizations included Bryan Hospital, Kearney Community Sustainable Housing, KPT&G, LLC and The Ambry Association and personal property included Faith Christian School and The American Automobile Experience.

The nursing facilities were granted exemptions as a percentage of the medicating beds they operated and those included Kinship Pointe, Mel-Wel Investors and Seneca Sunrise.
