KEARNEY — Kearney High School junior Addison Jezbera has been selected as a recipient of the Nebraska Young Artist Award, an honor presented annually by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts.
This prestigious award recognizes talented Nebraska high school juniors for their exceptional abilities in visual art, music, dance, theatre, film, and emerging media arts.
Addison was recognized for her outstanding oil pastel work titled “Shopping Cart.” Now in its 28th year, the Nebraska Young Artist Awards program has honored nearly 2,000 students from across Nebraska. Students selected for this recognition demonstrated exceptional artistic talent through submitted work, which was reviewed and selected by faculty from the Hixson-Lied College. This marks the second year in a row that a Kearney High School student has received this honor.
Addison, along with other award recipients from more than 40 high schools across Nebraska, will be honored during a special event at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln on April 3, 2025. During this day-long celebration, students and their families will tour the campus, participate in workshops, meet current UNL students, and attend an awards ceremony where they will receive a certificate and an original piece of artwork created by a UNL printmaking student.
