KEARNEY – Grand Island had control from the beginning and held firm throughout, sweeping Kearney Volleyball on Thursday night at Kearney High School. Click here for the broadcast replay.
The Bearcats entered the night at 3-9 on the year while Grand Island was 8-4. The central Nebraska rivalry still held tension despite the youth movement from Kearney.
Grand Island took a 6-0 lead early in the first set and never looked back, taking down Kearney swiftly 25-9.
Set Two was all Islanders despite a late run by Kearney, as Grand Island took the second set 25-15.
The Islanders handled business in the third, 25-11.

Grand Island was led by Tia Traudt with 14 kills, Haeydn Hoos had 11, and Mya Chrisman had four with three blocks.
Kearney’s Paige Mailahn had 6 kills, Sophie Vanderbeek had four with one block, and Sophie Glandt ended with three kills.
Kearney drops to 3-10 on the year and travels to Lincoln High on Tuesday night.
Grand Island is now 9-4 and takes on the LPS Invite on Friday and Saturday.
