Columbus, Nebraska – The Norfolk Panthers took two from the Kearney Bearcats Thursday
night, September 14, at Bradshaw park in Columbus.

In game 1, Columbus took an early lead and were able to hold on for the 7-5 win. Ava Magnani
had 2 hits for the Bearcats. She and Kami Kaskie each had 2 RBI. Callen Heule earned the win for the Discoverers.

In game 2, Kearney scored first in the top of the first inning, but Columbus took the lead in the bottom of the inning and didn’t look back. Lexus Hill was the winning pitcher. Kaskie led the Bearcats with 4 hits. Olivia Wright had 3 RBI.

The Discoverers improved to 9-8 on the season and will face Norfolk and Elkhorn on Saturday, September 16.

Kearney fell to 7-13 on the season. The varsity Bearcats have the weekend off and will travel to

Lincoln Southwest on Tuesday, September 19 and host Grand Island for Senior night on Thursday, September 21 at Patriot Park.

Columbus, Nebraska – The Kearney Bearcats JV swept the Columbus JV by scores of 17-3
and 20-16 on Thursday, September 14, at Bradshaw Park in Columbus.

In game 1, Rachel Griffiths earned the win allowing 3 runs on 3 hits. Siena Bonk, Anna Brandt, and Carleigh Birdwell each had three hits. Bonk and Kinleigh Coffman each led the team with 3 RBI.

In game 2, Griffiths earned the win in relief work as the Bearcats scored 4 runs in an extra inning. Allie Johnson and Madison Chamberlin led the team with 3 hits. Birdwell and Brandt each had 3 RBI.

Kearney JV improved to 11-12 on the season. They travel to Lincoln on Saturday for a tournament at Doris Bair softball complex where they are scheduled to play Lincoln Southeast, Lincoln Pius and Lincoln Southwest. Games upcoming next week are at Lincoln Southwest on Tuesday, September 19 and at home against Grand Island, Thursday the 21st.
