Kearney utilized a strong day at the plate and a strong outing from Bryce Anderson to lift past Lincoln Northeast.

Kearney High was fueled by a dominant outing from junior Bryce Anderson, who tossed six strong innings on the mound. Anderson struck out nine batters, walked just two, and allowed only two earned runs in the winning effort. Senior Griffin Novacek came in to close the door in the seventh, striking out two and picking up the save.

“Bryce was in complete control tonight,” said assistant coach Pocock. “He trusted his stuff, stayed composed with runners on base, and really set the tone for us.”

Offensively, the Bearcats were led by Kole Throckmorton, who went 2-for-3 with a triple and a single. Devin Carrell added a hit, a run scored, and drew a walk, while Tysen Cabela chipped in an RBI single to help pace the offense.

The Rockets got a quality start from junior Austin Roberts, who was in the top 5 in the state for ERA. Roberts had a 0.40 ERA coming into the game today, gave up 5 earned runs, and struck out just two Bearcat batters.  Jaxon Volkmer was the only Rocket with a hit, as he brought in the only two runs courtesy of a two-run home run.

The Bearcats (5-6) will look to keep the momentum rolling this Saturday in Lincoln as they take on Lincoln High School and Lincoln North Star in a doubleheader for first pitch scheduled at 10:00 A.M.
