GRAND ISLAND — The Central Nebraska Humane Society is the largest nonprofit animal welfare organization located in central Nebraska.
Our mission is to provide sanctuary to and encourage the adoption of rescued, abandoned, abused, and neglected animals into safe, lifelong homes. While we are contracted by local municipalities to provide animal control services, the animal shelter portion of our operation is funded by the generous donations of the public.
Animal shelters and rescues need the community’s help more than ever. We are all running at capacity and facing higher animal intake numbers than ever before. CNHS provided care for 2,486 animals in 2024, compared to 2,064 animals in 2023. This is an increase of over 400 animals in one year.
We are on track to break this record again in 2025 and need our community’s support to cover these rising expenses and continue caring and advocating for these voiceless animals. CNHS is participating in this year’s Go Big Give online donation event on May 1, 2025.
All contributions directly impact the lives of local animals. We hope you will consider sharing our story and encouraging donations to our cause.
