HASTINGS — The Hastings Public Schools Foundation will present a $450,000 check to the HPS Board of Education at its meeting on Monday, May 19.
The funds are supporting playground upgrades at all five Hastings Public elementary sites. The meeting starts at 6:00 pm in the HPS District Offices on the second floor of the Morton Early Learning Center, 1515 W 8th Street, Hastings.
“Project: Playground” is the largest fundraising campaign in the history of the HPS Foundation, and provides benefits for students, teachers and the entire community. Foundation funds will be combined with Hastings Public Schools dollars to provide nearly $800,000 in new equipment, surface and accessibility improvements, and additional shade options.
New equipment and surfacing upgrades are already complete at Alcott. Equipment for Longfellow and Lincoln will arrive later this month, with installation scheduled over the summer. Watson and Hawthorne will see playground work this fall.
