Lincoln, Nebraska – The Lincoln Southwest Silverhawks took one game from the Kearney Bearcats Tuesday night, at Doris Bair Softball Complex in Lincoln. They were scheduled to play two games, but as the first game ended, a small storm rolled in from the northwest, keeping lightning in the area for an hour before the 2nd game was canceled.

Lincoln Southwest scored first in the bottom of the 3rd inning, and then added runs later to win 7-0. Lauren Schmeits pitched 5 ⅓ innings with Paige Fryda coming in for relief in the 6th. Schmeits, Ava Magnani, Emily Drackley and Jordan Felker each got a hit.

The Silverhawks improved to 15-4 on the season and will play Wednesday, September 20 at home vs the Columbus Discoverers.

Kearney fell to 7-14 on the season. The varsity Bearcats will play at Patriot Park Thursday, September 21, for Senior Night against Grand Island. Games start at 5:00 and the team will recognize the three seniors on the team; Kami Kaski, Shay Ellis, and Taylor Potter.

Lincoln, Nebraska – The Lincoln Southwest Silverhawks JV beat the Kearney Bearcats JV 4-3 in a lightning-shortened night at Doris Bair Softball Complex in Lincoln on Tuesday, September 19.

Kearney JV took an early lead, plating 3 in the top of the first, but the Silverhawks came back to score 4 themselves in the 3rd to get the win. Rachel Griffiths pitched the entire game for Kearney. Siena Bonk led the team with 2 hits.

Kaylee Bowman had 2 RBI.

The Silverhawks JV improved to 12-2-2 this fall and will play tonight against Columbus at home.

The Bearcat JV team fell to 12-13 this fall. They have 5 games remaining on the season starting with two against Grand Island at Patriot Park this Thursday, September 21 at 5:00.
