An achievement award was presented to the Kearney Catholic girls track team for winning the NSAA Class C Track team title for the second straight year, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

KEARNEY — The Kearney Catholic High School girls track team was recognized for their achievement of earning their second straight state title during the Buffalo County commissioners meeting.

The commissioners presented the achievement award to KCHS track coach Todd Russell on Tuesday, June 10. Kearney Catholic girls track and field team claimed the NSAA Class C Track team title for the second time.

The Stars had six first place finishes, including a new meet record set by Alyssa Onnen in the pole vault, to win the meet by 29 points over runner-up Syracuse, 79-50. Bishop Neumann (Wahoo) took third.

Of those six first place finishes, Hazel Haarberg had three (100m, 200m, Long Jump) and Onnen added the Triple Jump title with her title in the pole vault. Jaelyn Witter would round out the titles with a win in the 3200-meter run (11:41.97).
