KEARNEY — A bicyclist was trapped under a vehicle after a collision in front of Andersen Wrecking Company in Kearney during the late morning of Monday, July 7.

Around 11:50 a.m., the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to M Ave. near Andersen Wrecking Co. in reference to a vehicle and bicycle accident. The bicyclist was reported to have been trapped under the vehicle.

According to Lt. Derek Luke with the Kearney Police Department, the bicyclist a male in his mid-30s, was northbound on the west sidewalk of M Ave. There was a collision with a vehicle that was leaving the Andersen Wrecking parking lot.

As a result of the accident, the bicyclist was trapped under the front of the vehicle and had to be extracted. Lt. Luke said the man suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital by Good Samaritan EMS ambulance.

The bicyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, per Lt. Luke. The driver of the vehicle was examined on scene by Good Samaritan EMS.

The accident remains under investigation by KPD.
