Phase three of the 30th Ave. overpass project will be starting and northbound traffic will reopen, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

KEARNEY — The City of Kearney Public Works Department, in coordination with KEA Constructors, LLC, is pleased to announce the completion of Phase 2 and the start of Phase 3 of the 30th Avenue Overpass Rehabilitation Project, beginning Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

With the completion of Phase 2, northbound traffic will now be restored across the overpass. During Phase 3, one lane in each direction will be open to both northbound and southbound motorists.

Phase 3 will focus on the reconstruction of the easternmost driving lane, including the approach slab and expansion joint, as well as sidewalk improvements at both ends of the structure. This phase is expected to last approximately 12 to 14 weeks, resulting in completion of the overall
project.

The pedestrian sidewalk on the overpass and the hike-bike trail near the northeast corner of the structure by North Railroad Street will remain closed during this phase. Pedestrians and cyclists are advised to use alternative routes, such as the trail and railroad underpass along
the tailrace canal.

The City thanks the public for their continued patience and cooperation. Motorists are encouraged to stay alert, reduce speeds, and use extra caution when traveling through the construction zone to ensure the safety of all workers and travelers.
