KEARNEY — Kearney Public Schools is proud to announce that three of its school leaders have been honored with top awards from the Nebraska State Association of Secondary School Principals (NSASSP) Region IV for their outstanding contributions to education and school leadership.

The 2024 Region IV NSASSP Awards recognize administrators who demonstrate visionary leadership, dedication to student success, and a strong commitment to their school communities.

KPS award recipients include:

• Jason Owens, Outstanding New Principal, Hanny Arram Center for Success

• Erin Jones, Assistant Middle School Principal of the Year, Sunrise Middle School

• Amber Lewis, Middle School Principal of the Year, Horizon Middle School

“These awards are a reflection of the hard work and heart each of these individuals bring to their schools every day,” said Jason Mundorf, Superintendent of Kearney Public Schools. “We are incredibly proud of Jason, Erin, and Amber for the impact they are making in the lives of students and staff. Their leadership is helping shape a stronger future for our district and our community. This recognition from peers illustrates not only do we see their incredible leadership and professionalism, but that they are also educational and thought leaders throughout the educational circles of Central Nebraska.”

The NSASSP Region IV Awards are peer-nominated and celebrate school leaders who model excellence, innovation, and integrity in their roles. Recipients will be formally recognized at the Region IV meeting this October.

“As a district, we are fortunate to have such talented and compassionate leaders serving our students,” added Mundorf. “Their recognition is well-deserved, and we look forward to celebrating their continued success.”
