KEARNEY CO. — On Monday Oct. 13, 2025 at approximately 12:41 p.m. the Kearney County 911 received a report of a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 6/34 and 44 North.

A 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Se four-door Sedan driven by 17-year-old Guadalupe Solorio of Santa Fe New Mexico was traveling eastbound on Hwy 6 /34 attempting to make a left turn to go North on Highway 44 when it was struck by a westbound 2019 Peterbuilt truck pulling an empty tanker trailer driven by 60-year-old Daniel Shoemaker of O’Neil.

A 13-year old-female passenger in the Volkswagen was Air lifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney by Air Care where later she was pronounced deceased.

Both drivers were also transported by Ambulance to Kearney Hospitals and treated and released for injuries. Seatbelts were in use by all occupants.

The accident is under investigation by the Kearney County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol and Kearney County Attorney’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office and State Patrol received assistance from the Nebraska Department of Roads, Axtell Fire and Rescue, Good Samaritan Ambulance and Air Care.
