Stephanie Horsley, who has coached Kearney High Volleyball for the past two seasons, has resigned, per a press release from Kearney Public Schools.
in her two seasons, the Bearcats had an overall record of 36-29, with a 21-12 record this past year and finished as the A-5 District Runner Up. The Bearcats went 15-17 in her first season.
Prior to her time at Kearney High, she was an assistant coach at UNK under Rick Squiers. She played college volleyball at both Wayne State and UNK, and was a standout during her high school career at Grand Island Central Catholic.

Kearney High School (KHS) announces that Head Volleyball Coach Stephanie Horsley has resigned from her position, effective immediately.
Coach Horsley has been a valued member of the Bearcat volleyball program, bringing passion, leadership, and a competitive spirit to the court. Under her direction, the team has continued to emphasize fundamentals, teamwork, and a culture of excellence and was competitive throughout the HAC and all of Class A.
“Coach Horsley brought great energy, high level experience and a deep understanding of the game to our volleyball program these past two seasons,” said Ryan Hogue, KPS Activities Director and Assistant Principal at KHS. “Her leadership and commitment to our student-athletes have been greatly appreciated and we are in a much better position as a program than we were two years ago. We thank her for her dedication to Kearney High School and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
Horsley expressed gratitude for her time with the program, stating, “I have loved watching this team grow as players and as people, and I am incredibly proud of everything we’ve accomplished over the past two seasons. I know the future of this program is very bright.”
Kearney Public Schools will begin the search for the next head volleyball coach immediately.
