GRAND ISLAND – Jesus Perez San Roman, 54, of Grand Island was arrested by Grand Island police Nov. 8 after he allegedly stabbed and choked a 47-year-old woman in southeast Grand Island.
According to Grand Island Police Division Chief Dean Elliott, Perez San Roman had previously been in a relationship with the woman. That relationship ended, and the woman had a protection order against him.
While she was on vacation, Perez San Roman took care of her cat. After she had returned to town, he had a key to her apartment and took the cat there. He then returned to the apartment, started choking the woman, and then stabbed her in her upper chest, Elliott said.
He then attempted to stab the woman again, but she fought back. She had defensive knife wounds on her hands from her struggle with the man.
Elliott said that a witness grabbed Perez San Roman and forced him to go outside. Grand Island police then arrested Perez San Roman for misdemeanor terroristic threats, felony violating a domestic protection order, felony first-degree assault causing serious bodily injury, felony possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, felony using a deadly weapon to commit a felony, and an attempted felony.
