GRAND ISLAND – Grand Island Fire Department firefighters responded at 9:12 a.m. Nov. 16 to the report of a structure fire at Ace Hardware at Third and Broadwell.

Fire Department Battalion Chief Ryan Seaman said Nov. 17 that firefighters were initially responding to what was thought to be a full structure fire, but upon arrival, found that the fire was in two semi-truck trailers used for storage located west of the store.

Two trailers were fully involved in fire, Seaman said. Two Fire Department engines were used in fighting the fire.

The fire caused an estimated $10,000 damage, Seaman said. Seaman did not know specifically what was stored in the trailers.

No one was injured in the fire. Fire Department personnel remained at the scene for two and a half hours.

The fire caused extensive smoke. Photos of the fire and comments were posted on Facebook on Nov. 16.
