Pioneer Village, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

MINDEN — Harold Warp Pioneer Village is proud to announce its participation in Give Big Minden 2025, a community-wide day of giving designed to celebrate and support local nonprofits.

This year, the museum is raising funds to stabilize and protect the historic Sod House and continue essential restoration work throughout the Village.

The Sod House, one of the most beloved and recognizable landmarks at Harold Warp Pioneer Village, represents the resilience and resourcefulness of Nebraska’s early settlers. Built from the very earth those pioneers called home, it stands as a living symbol of survival and ingenuity on the Great Plains. After decades of exposure to the elements, the structure now requires critical preservation work to ensure it remains standing for future generations.

In addition to the Sod House, donations will also support other restoration and stabilization projects across the museum’s 26 historic buildings — including improvements to wood structures, artifact protection, and accessibility upgrades for visitors.

Give Big Minden, hosted by the Minden Chamber of Commerce and the Minden Community Foundation, provides a platform for local residents and supporters to contribute to causes that make a lasting difference. This year’s giving day offers an easy way for individuals and families to invest directly in the preservation of Nebraska’s history.

Community members can visit GiveBigMinden.com and search for Harold Warp Pioneer Village to make a donation or learn more about how their gift supports ongoing preservation efforts.

Every contribution, from $10 to $500 or more, directly supports restoration materials, skilled labor, and long-term protection of the Sod House and other vital structures.

Together, we can ensure that these stories of Nebraska’s past continue to inspire generations to come.
