KEARNEY — Kearney Public Schools, dedicated to the safety and well-being of its students, is excited to announce its participation in Fire Prevention Week, taking place from October 9-13, 2023. This annual event focuses on educating students about fire safety and prevention, ensuring that they are well-equipped to respond to potential fire emergencies.

The theme for this year’s Fire Prevention Week is “Cooking Safety Starts with You”. A video link will be provided to every elementary for grades 1-5 to educate students about cooking safety. A fire safety video with Smokey the Bear will be provided to all kindergarten classrooms.
Firefighters will be greeting students at the KPS elementary schools during firefighter week to raise awareness.
