EDMOND, OKLA. – The Nebraska Kearney women’s golf team shot a 36-hole total of 606 to finish in sixth place at the annual Grace Shin Memorial Tuesday in Edmond, Okla.
The two-day, 16-team event was held at the par 71 Golf Club of Edmond (5,720 yards). The field consisted of schools from four different D2 conferences as well as one junior college.
After having a 618 and a 615 over its first two tournaments, UNK improved yet again thanks to a 303 on Monday and a 300 on Tuesday. Central Missouri (564) easily won with four teams between 593-599. The Lopers bested, among others, one RMAC rival and six GAC teams.
Kansas senior Allison Comer (74-76) and Kansas freshman Claire Berquist(76-74) both fired an 8-over 150 to tie for 15th place. Comer had four birdies over the two days with Berquist at 23 pars. Overall, just four strokes separated the Lopers five scorers.
UCM went 1-2-3 in the field with Mia Rallo (2-under 140) the medalist.
Kansas freshman Liz Lyons (T-27th/152; 77-75), Colombina Juliana Botero Molina (T-33rd/153; 78-75) and Kansas junior Brooke King (T-38th/154; 76-78) rounded out UNK’s lineup. King had an Eagle on the par 5 second hole (496 yards), Botero Molina tied for the team lead in birdies (four) with Lyons at a team-best 26 pars. Finally, playing as an individual was Texas freshman Sofia Wildeman (T-33rd/77-75). She also had 23 pars over the two days.
For the first time in four years, UNK will be at home as the annual Nebraska Intercollegiate (men’s and women’s) will be held this Friday/Saturday (Oct. 6-7) at Awarii Dunes.
