GRAND ISLAND – A Hall County Sheriff’s deputy located a reported stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the Git ‘N Split convenience store at 8976 Alda Road South in Wood River at 10:52 a.m. Dec. 23.
The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled from the parking lot. A pursuit ensued and was taken over by the Nebraska State Patrol. The vehicle, a 2011 black Kia Sorento, had been reported stolen earlier that morning in Grand Island, according to a news release from Chief Deputy Josh Moline.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Department is conducting a follow-up investigation to identify the driver of the stolen vehicle. No arrest has been made at this time.
No injuries were reported, and no property damage occurred during the incident.
The Nebraska State Patrol assisted the Hall County Sheriff’s Department. The investigation remains ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
