During this campaign, officers made 16 Arrests, 13 DUI-Alcohol and 2 Minor in Possession of Alcohol, and 1 DUI-Drugs. Additionally, 5 reckless driving, 13 speeding citations were issued. KPD Officers had a total of 565 contacts with 111 citations being issued for various traffic offences during the selective enforcement.

“The results from this enforcement effort show exactly why initiatives like Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over are so important. Our officers were highly visible and proactive, and that presence led to multiple impaired drivers being removed from the roadway before someone was seriously injured or killed. While enforcement numbers matter, the true success of this campaign is measured in the crashes and injuries prevented and lives saved. We appreciate the continued support of the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety, which allows us to dedicate focused resources toward keeping our community safe during high-risk periods.” -Captain Kevin Thompson, Kearney Police Department

Kearney Police Department’s participation in the impaired driving enforcement is funded through a grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
