The Kearney Public Library and Kearney Public Library Foundation presents their 8th Annual One Author Kearney.

One Author Kearney is an annual event that focuses on encouraging reading and giving residents the opportunity to engage with renowned authors.

This year’s featured authors are Gail Tsukiyama and Mary Roach.

Mary Roach is the author of seven New York Times bestsellers, with her latest book “FUZZ: When Nature Breaks the Law.” Roach’s works are described as humorous science non-fiction. KPL Foundation member Dorothy Miller shared that Roach’s work takes readers on an interesting path.”She takes very unusual topics that most of don’t think that much about, and she researches, researches, and researches. Then her style of writing is humorous and conversational. So, it really draws the reader in.”

As for Gail Tsukiyama, she is the bestselling author of “Women of the Silk” and “The Samurai’s Garden.” Her latest novel is “The Brightest Star,” which is a historical novel based on the life actress Anna May Wong who was the first and only Asian American woman to gain movie stardom in the early days of Hollywood.

In addition, Tsukiyama is the Executive Director Writers for WaterBridge Outreach, a non-profit organization that gives children in developing communities a future by nourishing their minds and bodies with books and water.

Both Roach and Tsukiyama will read excerpts from each of their latest books, followed by a book signing.

The event will be held this evening at the World Theater, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Tickets are free and can be picked up at the Kearney Public Library or reserved online at https://kearney.events.mylibrary.digital/event?id=43429.
