KEARNEY — Kearney Public Schools is proud to welcome award-winning mental health expert and keynote speaker Brittany Richmond to speak with students at KPS middle schools and high school on Jan. 21 and 22.

Richmond’s presentations will focus on navigating anxiety, building resilience, fostering connection, and encouraging meaningful communication among peers.

Richmond is a nationally recognized teen and young adult mental health speaker who has impacted tens of thousands of students across the country with her message of hope and empowerment. Drawing from her own lived experience—including her journey with anxiety and her work in the mental health field—she inspires young people to “Become an Overcomer” by challenging negative self-talk, developing supportive relationships, and creating space for open conversation about mental health.

During her visits, Richmond will engage students with interactive and relatable talks designed specifically for adolescent audiences. Her presentations aim to help students:

• Recognize and navigate anxiety and its impact on daily life
• Build emotional resilience and self-compassion
• Encourage supportive peer communication and active listening
• Take practical steps toward positive mental well-being

Richmond is also a bestselling author of Lies My Anxiety Has Told Me and was recently honored with the 2024 Voice for Positive Change Award for her work in youth mental health.

“We are honored to bring Brittany Richmond to Kearney to speak with our students, and we are very appreciative of the McKenna’s Rae of Hope Foundation’s support in the effort to bring her message,” said Dr. Jason Mundorf, Superintendent of Kearney Public Schools. “Her message of resilience, connection, and mental wellness aligns with our commitment to support every need of our students. We know her stories, strategies, and authentic approach will resonate deeply with our middle and high school students.”

Richmond’s visit highlights KPS’s ongoing efforts to prioritize student mental health and equip young people with the tools they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
