NEBRASKA — During the month of December 2025, fifteen people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation
- These 15 fatalities occurred in 15 fatal crashes.
- Four of the nine vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, four were using a seatbelt, and one had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.
- Ten of the fatalities were in rural locations*.
- There was one fatality on the interstate, seven on other highways, and seven on local roads.
- Four of the fatalities were pedestrians.
- One of the fatalities was a bicyclist.
- One of the fatalities was an occupant of a motorized wheelchair.
- One of the fatalities was riding an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).
- There were 17 fatalities in December of 2024.
- Only 62 of the 170 vehicle occupants killed during 2025 were using seatbelts.
*The Federal Highway Administration definition for urban is an area with a population of 5,000 or more.
