KHS Volleyball v. North Platte

KEARNEY – The Bearcat Volleyball team’s hot streak continued Thursday night, handling the North Platte Bulldogs at Kearney High School in the 3-0 victory. Click here to listen to the broadcast replay.

Kearney (9-16) earned the sweep, winning 25-21, 25-16, and 25-16. North Platte (6-21) made the first set close, bringing the contest to a 22-21 set when head coach for the Bearcats Theison Anderson used the only timeout of the contest, pushing Kearney to a 4-0 run to end the first set.

The Bearcats gave up the first point of the second set, but never trailed after taking the lead at 2-1 dominating the early runs to win set two.

In Set Three, the Bearcats went on a 7-0 to begin the stretch, as Kearney was able to add more rotation and reserve players for critical varsity time while closing out for the win.

Kearney had big contributions from Sophie Vanderbeek and Addison Helmbrecht, each finishing with twelve kills and two blocks. Paige Mailahn added eleven kills and one block, while Sophie Glandt added four kills in the final set. Alyssa Bauer also contributed five kills and one ace.

Both teams head to the Lincoln Northeast varsity quad on Saturday, as both squads will face Lincoln Northeast and Southeast.
