WOOD RIVER — Class C-1 No. 7-rated (NebPreps) Doniphan-Trumbull secured the LouPlatte Conference regular-season championship Friday night with a 62-31 win at Wood River, completing a sweep of both the LPC Tournament and regular-season titles.

Jack Poppe posted a triple-double with 12 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists for the Cardinals (18-3), who extended their winning streak to six. Parker Volk scored a team-high 19 points, and Luke Askey added 10. Senior Will Johnson blocked seven shots.

Doniphan-Trumbull shot 63% in the first half and built a 38-12 halftime lead. The Cardinals finished 26 of 47 (55.3%) from the field and assisted on 18 baskets.

Jace Stewart led Wood River (7-15) with 11 points. Madden Brabec added eight points and nine rebounds. The Eagles fell to the Cardinals for the second time in a week after a 73-34 loss in the LPC Tournament semifinals.

Doniphan-Trumbull has now won four straight LPC Tournaments and six of the last eight. The Cardinals have claimed three of the past four regular-season conference titles, dropping only one LPC game in that span.

Next up for Doniphan-Trumbull is a contest against Class C-2 top-rated Fremont Bergan (20-1) on Saturday at the Heartland Events Center in Grand Island. Tipoff is set for 11:50 a.m.
