A grass fire occurs along Interstate 80 in central Nebraska, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

ST. PAUL — The St. Paul Fire Department along with all other Howard County fire departments are continuing a burn ban for our fire district and the rest of the county until we receive significant moisture due to drought conditions.

According to the National Weather Service – Hastings, a Fire Weather Watch will be in effect from the afternoon through the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 17.

Record breaking high temperatures are expected through midweek and will play a part to the “very dangerous” fire weather conditions on Tuesday.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, Howard County is currently under moderate drought, D1, conditions.
