GRAND ISLAND – Charges are pending against Michael A. Brown, 54, of Grand Island Island for allegedly assaulting two juvenile males, ages 16 and 17, on Feb. 16, Hall County Attorney Marty Klein said March 3.
The incident occurred just south of West Lawn Elementary School on College Street at approximately 3:18 p.m. Feb. 16. The incident was a Grand Island Senior High School student walkout protest against ICE.
Klein said that he needs to meet with Grand Island police to go over the evidence to make decisions regarding the charges that will be filed. Klein said that he will send a news release after decisions occur about what charges will be filed.
Police determined that Brown exited his vehicle and approached the group of protestors on the sidewalk.
Grand Island Public Schools Superintendent Matt Fisher wrote that approximately 150 students participated in the walkout, which started at 1:25 p.m. Feb. 16.
