The scene of the head-on collision accident north of Kearney near the intersection of Highway 10 and 175th Road, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

KEARNEY — A head on collision between two vehicles occurred amid a Dense Fog Advisory north of Kearney during the morning hours of Thursday, March 5.

Around 7:30 a.m., the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department and Good Samaritan EMS were dispatched near the intersection of Highway 10 and 175th Road for the report of a two-vehicle head-on collision with injuries.

On scene, a white SUV with heavy front-end damage had left the road and came to rest east ditch of Highway 10. A black pickup with heavy front-end damage and airbags deployed had come to a stop on Highway 10 facing south.

Traffic was diverted around the scene while patients were loaded onto the ambulances. Information about the number and extent of injuries was not available on scene.

The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol also responded to the scene.

Visibility in the area was limited due to a Dense Fog Advisory that was in place in Buffalo County until the later morning.

The accident remains under investigation.
