HASTINGS — This morning, Monday, March 9 a Ditch Fire was reported 1648 E. Barrows Rd, 2 miles west of Hwy 281.
Once on scene, crews found a wooded area and a ditch area involved with heavy fire. Hastings Rural Volunteer Fire Department crews quickly put out the fire with the assistance of Trumbull Fire, Doniphan Fire, and Juniata Fire.
The origin of the fire is unknown at this time. No structures were involved, and no injuries were reported. Please be aware of your surroundings in the dry grounds. Do not discard cigarettes; stay on the road with vehicles.
Assistance included help from: Adams County Sheriff’s Dept. Hastings NE, Adams County Emergency Management, Hastings Salvation Army, and Hall County Sheriff.
The Hastings Rural Fire District is currently under a burn ban until Friday, March 13.
