KEARNEY — Students from Kearney High School were among those recognized at the 2026 Nebraska Educators Rising State Leadership Conference, held February 23–24 at the Younes South Conference Center.

The event brought together more than 400 aspiring educators, teacher leaders, and guests representing 29 chapters from across Nebraska.

The annual conference provides high school students interested in the education profession with opportunities to develop leadership skills, compete in education-related events, and explore future careers in teaching.

Several Kearney High School students earned recognition for their achievements during the conference.

Miranda Wright earned First Place in the Varsity Public Speaking competition, demonstrating strong communication skills and a passion for the education profession.

Two Kearney High School seniors were also honored during the Class of 2026 Senior Signing Event, where students formally committed to pursuing careers in education.

  • Karsyn Vasko signed to pursue a career in Elementary Education.
  • Anna Brandt signed to pursue a career in Science Education.

The Senior Signing Event celebrated more than 70 future educators from across Nebraska who plan to continue their studies in education after high school.

“Kearney High Schools is incredibly proud of these students for choosing a profession that has such a meaningful impact on future generations,” said Principal Jeff Ganz. “Programs like Educators Rising help inspire talented young people to pursue careers in education, and it is exciting to see Kearney High School students already stepping forward to become the teachers of tomorrow.”

Throughout the two-day conference, students participated in competitive events, breakout learning sessions, networking opportunities, and college exploration experiences designed to strengthen Nebraska’s future educator pipeline.
