HASTINGS — A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for central Nebraska for the late morning through the evening of Saturday, March 21.
The National Weather Service – Hastings has issued the Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity. Winds are expected out of the southwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
Winds will shift to the north during the evening with gusts reaching 35-40 mph.
Relative humidity will drop to as low as nine percent in some areas. The drop will be due to anonymously high temperatures, into the upper 80s and 90s.
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings.
Any fire that develops will spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
