GRAND ISLAND – A 35-year-old man was hit by a train as he was crossing the railroad tracks just north of Third and Broadwell on March 22.

Grand Island Police Lt. .Jason Allan said the incident was reported at 1:09 p.m. March 22. Witnesses saw the man go around a railroad crossing arm as an eastbound train was approaching.

The man was taken to a hospital. The incident was non-intentional, Allan said. Police are not releasing the man’s name. He said it is unknown why the man was crossing the railroad tracks at that time.
