OVERTON — Law enforcement was searching along the Platte River for an individual who fled from a traffic stop along Interstate 80 between Lexington and Overton during the morning of Thursday, April 2.

According to the Nebraska State Patrol, an individual fled on foot south toward the Platte River following a traffic stop near mile marker 244 near Dogwood State Wildlife Management area.

Members of the Nebraska State Patrol and the Gosper County Sheriff Office were station on the south side of the river along Road 749 in Phelps and Gosper County, monitoring the area.

“The driver is a male who is approximately 5’8” and was last seen wearing a tan Carhartt style jacket, grey sweatpants, and tennis shoes. He is not considered dangerous. We are asking for the public’s assistance to contact their local law enforcement agency’s non-emergency number if they identify this man,” per the Nebraska State Patrol.
