KEARNEY — The Nebraska State Bandmasters Association (NSBA) state marching contest is being held on Saturday, Oct. 21 throughout our state at sites in Lincoln, Omaha, and Kearney.
Kearney High School has been chosen to be the west site of the state competition since 2017.
“Over 6,500 spectators and band students on average have attended in years past, and we anticipate strong attendance this year as well,” Kearney Public Schools states.
Twenty-four schools will be coming from across the state.
Spectator parking will be available in the northeast parking lot, with entry off 27th Avenue. Accessible parking is available in the lot, as well as drop off/pick up zones along Bearcat Boulevard.
Please refrain from parking on Bearcat Boulevard or 27th Avenue as most curb locations is marked as no-parking. Overflow parking is available at Central Community College, Brookestone Gardens, and the Buckle Distribution Center.
Stadium access will be available beyond the drop off/pick up zone under the big blue K. NSBA event admission prices have been set by the Nebraska State Activities Association:
- Adults: $10
- Students: $7
Pit Crew Olympics
The Kearney NSBA Marching Festival is the only festival in the state that includes an opportunity for the band volunteers to get into the action.
At the conclusion of each session (TBD), teams of five will complete in a timed obstacle course designed to showcase the skills developed over the course of this marching season.
