KEARNEY — Avery Franzen, a distinguished senior at Kearney High School (KHS), has been chosen as one of the esteemed recipients of the 2023-2024 Believers & Achievers accolade, jointly sponsored by Currency and the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA).
The Believers & Achievers program is a prestigious statewide initiative aimed at acknowledging and celebrating Nebraska’s emerging leaders.
Out of the entire pool of eligible candidates, Avery is among the privileged 48 Nebraska high school seniors to be bestowed with the title of Believers & Achievers. From this distinguished group, eight students will be further honored with $500 scholarships courtesy of Currency, to be utilized for their higher education pursuits.
The recipients will receive recognition during NSAA State Championships throughout the 2023-2024 academic year and will also be featured prominently on a poster distributed to all NSAA member schools. These remarkable students selected for the Believers & Achievers awards program exemplify the pinnacle of excellence within Nebraska’s high schools.
The Believers & Achievers initiative was meticulously crafted to commend and incentivize high school students in Nebraska who exhibit exceptional prowess in academics and active participation in NSAA-sanctioned activities. Those who manifest unwavering dedication to community service, school involvement, and civic engagement are the ones celebrated by the Believers & Achievers program.
Evaluation of candidates encompasses a comprehensive set of criteria, including but not limited to:
- Exceptional scholastic performance, marked by a minimum GPA of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale.
- Receipt of academic honors and awards.
- Active engagement in NSAA-sanctioned activities.
- Notable participation in school clubs and organizations.
- Demonstrated commitment to community initiatives.
- A thoughtfully crafted Citizenship Essay.
Ryan Hogue, Activities Director and Assistant Principal at Kearney High School, expressed his profound pride in Avery’s achievement, stating, “Avery serves as an inspiring example of the commitment and dedication to her school, activities, and the Kearney community that will only show the rest of our student body how they too can experience the success that Miss Franzen has experienced in and outside the classroom. Avery is actively involved in Dafy, K-Club, Kearney Tackles Cancer, FCA, Volleyball, Basketball, and Track & Field.
