GRAND ISLAND – The Grand Island Children’s Museum was one of several non-profit organizations to receive a grant from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development

The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) announced 17 recipients of $70 million in grant funding for the second funding cycle of the Shovel-Ready Capital Recovery and Investment Act Program.

The Shovel-Ready Capital Recovery and Investment Act Program assists non-profit organizations with capital projects that were delayed due to COVID-19. The program was approved for additional funding from the State General Fund during the 2023 Legislative Session and signed into law by Governor Jim Pillen.

As of October 4th, DED received 66 applications totaling more than $183 million in 2023 Shovel-Ready funding requests. A total of 17 awards were announced Oct.11. All available grant funds for the 2023 Shovel-Ready program have now been allocated.
