WHITE – DEFENSE SETS STANDARD OF PLAY:

Nebraska’s defense allowed fourteen points on Saturday – the most since the Michigan contest at the end of September.

The Husker defensive coordinator Tony White spoke about what impressed him the most from his defense in the win over Purdue last Saturday…

The Huskers forced several turnovers in the contest, getting two fumbles and two interceptions in the contest.

 

WHITE – DEFENSE PLAYS FAST WITH PREPARATION:

Tony White, Nebraska defensive coordinator, was asked during his Tuesday press conference about how his players continue to play fast each week…

White added that his team spends each night preparing in film, and takes tests each morning to prepare what the team will see from the opponent’s offense.

 

FOLEY – FIELD GOAL BLOCK SET-UP:

Nebraska Football’s special teams coordinator Ed Foley was asked how the 68 yard field goal block-return against Purdue was concocted…

Newsome earned Big Ten Special Teams player-of-the-week honors due to his return on the score.

 

FOLEY – ALVANO REMAINS CONFIDENT WITH CONSISTENCY:

Freshman kicker Tristan Alvano nailed a 55 yard field goal in the win over Purdue, as Ed Foley, special teams coordinator, said during his Tuesday press conference it is about the former Westside Warrior’s consistency…

Alvano is perfect on PATs this season and is 5-9 on field goal attempts through eight games.

 

FOLEY – TRICKLE DOWN EFFECT WITH INJURIES:

The injury bug continues to marr the Nebraska football team, as special teams coach Ed Foley added during his Tuesday press conference that the third phase of the game has been affected…

The Huskers did go through a lighter game of injuries, although Omar Brown was injured during the Purdue contest.
