KEARNEY — Communities, schools and organizations are celebrating 2023 Veterans Day in a variety of ways this weekend. Take a look at the events taking place across central Nebraska.

Kearney – Veterans Day Parade set for Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. downtown on Central Ave.

Grand Island – A Veterans Day Appreciation Breakfast, Saturday, Nov. 11, 5 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the United Veterans Club on 1914 W. Capital Ave. Veterans eat for free, everyone else pays $6. The event is hosted by the Songs of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Hastings – Veterans Celebration will be Friday, Nov. 10 at The Heritage at College View from 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Music by Robin Koozer Flag Detail by The American Legion Pie Social to follow.

Lexington – Heartland Museum Eleventh Hour Ceremony will be held Saturday Nov. 11. Coffee and rolls provided by Pinnacle Bank will be offered at 9 a.m. At 11 a.m., the program will include, “The War to End All Wars – The Movie,” There will be a soup luncheon following the film. At 4 p.m. the Veterans Parade will be held downtown, contingent upon weather and logistics.

Cozad – Veterans Day Service to be held at Cozad High School on Friday Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. The public is invited to listen to speakers, watch the Color Guard, and hear the band play. Afterwards, consider walking around Muny Park, where Wilson Public Library sponsors a special veteran’s story walk.

Sumner – The Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Public Schools Veterans Day program will be on Friday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m.

Elwood – Veterans Day Bean Feed will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 5-7 p.m. at 104 Rockford St.

Bertrand – A Veterans Day program will be held at Bertrand Public School on Friday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m.

Loomis – A Veterans Day breakfast and program will be held at Loomis Public School on Friday, Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Holdrege – A Veterans Breakfast will be held on Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Nebraska Prairie Museum at 9 a.m. Veterans Day program to be held Friday, Nov. 10 at Holdrege Public Schools, 1 p.m. Brian Osborne will be the keynote speaker. All veterans are welcome to attend.

Wilcox-Hildreth – A Veterans Day program will be held at Wilcox-Hildreth High School in Wilcox on Friday Nov. 10 at 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Broken Bow – Veterans Soup Supper will be held Friday, Nov. 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Broken Bow Municipal Building. The Broken Bow Public School’s Veterans Day program will be Nov. 10 at 9 a.m.

Callaway – Veterans Soup Supper will be held Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Callaway Community Center from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Gibbon – Veterans Day program to be held in the Gibbon High School gymnasium from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. with a reception to follow.

Amherst – A Veterans Day program will be held at Amherst Public School on Friday, Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m.

Pleasanton – A Veterans Day program will be held at Pleasanton Public School on Friday, Nov. 10 at 1:30 p.m.

Ravenna – A Veterans Day program will be held at Ravenna Public School on Friday, Nov. 10 in the high school gym at 9:45 p.m.

Kenesaw – A Veterans Day program will be held at Kenesaw Public School on Friday, Nov. 10 at 9:20 a.m.

Wood River – Veterans Day program to be held at Wood River Rural Schools from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Alma – Veterans Day program featuring Col. Richard Schmidt, USMC, will be held at Alma Public Schools on Friday, Nov. 10 at 8:15 a.m.

Axtell – Veterans Day program to be held at Axtell Public Schools from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Minden – On Friday, Nov. 10, Minden Public Schools FCCLA is hosting a breakfast for veterans and their families at 7:30 a.m. A Veterans Day program will follow at 9 a.m.

Doniphan-Trumbull – A Veterans Day program will be held at Doniphan-Trumbull Public School on Friday, Nov. 10 at 9 a.m.

Aurora – A Veterans Day breakfast will be held at Aurora Public School from 8:15 a.m. – 9 a.m. There will be a Veterans Day program to follow from 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m.
