HASTINGS — The east, northbound lane of Burlington Avenue is scheduled to close between South Street and A Street for approximately two hours on Tuesday, Nov. 14.
The closure, which is scheduled to occur 8:30-10:30 a.m., is to facilitate efforts from Johnson Service of Kearney to clean and inspect with cameras the sewer system in southwest Hastings. The entire project area is south of the BNSF Railway to F Street, from Woodland Avenue on the west to Minnesota Avenue to the east.
The process takes two vehicles, working together about a block apart. One truck deploys high pressure water jet systems into the sewer to remove build up and clogs, while the other truck simultaneously films the sewer to determine if additional work is needed such as cutting tree roots or grinding concrete, or rust in the line.
These inspections will provide Hastings Utilities with high-definition video as well as reports to catch potential damage before it becomes a problem.
The City of Hastings Street Department will assist in closing the lane during this process.
