GRAND ISLAND — A Grand Island man has been arrested for threatening a woman with a knife and stabbing her phone until it exploded, all while a two-year-old was present.
According to the Grand Island Police Department, officers were dispatched to 915 Vine St. in reference to a disturbance.
Arriving at the scene, officers spoke with an adult female who advised that the father of her child, Ubaldo Valdes, 29, entered her home uninvited and began threatening her life while holding a knife.
Valdes would then take the female’s phone from her hand and stab it multiple times until it exploded. Police say he then began to strike the female in her head and arms with an open palm multiple times, causing bodily injury while still holding the knife.
Police say the couple’s two-year-old son was present during the altercation.
Valdes was later contacted while operating a motor vehicle and arrested. He was found to have no valid driver’s license.
He was arrested for terroristic threats, use of a weapon to commit a felony, third degree domestic assault, child abuse, criminal mischief and no operator’s license.
