GRAND ISLAND — The Bygone Book Club will be discussing World War II in Nebraska on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

The fight against the Axis required sacrifice and dedication, and Nebraskans proudly answered the call.

Three ordinance plants, eleven air bases, and the North Platte Canteen all bolstered the war effort.

Through detailed archival research, author Melissa Amateis tells the remarkable story of the Cornhusker State’s home front.

The discussion will lead by Stephanie Crosby

Local historians lead monthly discussions of books featuring Grand Island, Hall County, Nebraska, or regional history. Membership in the book club is monthly, participants can choose which month/book is of interest to them and do not need to commit to the entire program series.

The Bygone Book Club is a partnership between the Grand Island Public Library and the Hall County Historical Society.
