GRAND ISLAND — What started out as a motorist assist ended in arrest of a woman for the possession of a controlled substance, among other counts.

During the morning of Tuesday, Jan 23, at 1:29 a.m., officers with the Grand Island Police Department stopped to assist a motorist who had slid off the roadway and was stuck in a ditch on South Blaine St., just south of Garland Street.

Officers attempted to identify the occupants involved in the accident and a female passenger of the vehicle could provide a false name to law enforcement.

She was later identified as Adriana Camacho Alcorta, who was wanted for three active Hall County warrants and was taken into custody, police said.

A search of a backpack in Alcorta’s possession discovered a crystal substance which was consistent with methamphetamine.

Alcorta was arrested for false reporting, possession of a controlled substance and the three active warrants.
