JOHNSON LAKE — A 16-year-old was killed as the result of a utility vehicle rollover near Johnson Lake during the evening of Wednesday, Jan. 31.
Around 10:52 p.m., a Gosper County Sheriff’s deputy discovered an accident while conducting their patrol duties. An investigation in reference to a single vehicle rollover fatality was conducted, according to Sheriff Jesse Naputi.
The evidence at the scene indicated the accident had taken place recently and occurred on the Chapel of the Lake road at Johnson Lake.
A 16-year-old, identified as Alberto Emilio Silva, was driving a side-by-side utility vehicle at the time of the accident. Naputi said Silva was not wearing a helmet or using a seatbelt.
He was ejected from the vehicle as a result of the accident and succumbed to his injuries as a result of the incident.
An autopsy is being conducted.
