Cole Poppen, Hastings College Men's Soccer // HC Bronco Athletics

HASTINGS – After compiling a record of 34-16-8, Cole Poppen has decided to step down as the head coach of the men’s soccer program.

“We would like to thank Coach Poppen for his time and dedication to the Hastings College men’s soccer program over these past three years,” Athletic Director Chris Clements said. “We appreciate the work Poppen has done and wish him the best.”

During his time at Hastings College, Poppen guided the Broncos to two national tournament appearances, a Great Plains Athletic Conference regular season title and a conference tournament title. He coached three All-Americans, two GPAC Players of the Year and 21 All-Conference honorees in his three years.

“We are committed to finding a coach who will keep our program at the top of the GPAC and contend nationally on an annual basis,” Athletic Director Chris Clements said. “The men’s soccer program has a rich tradition of winning, and we are dedicated to finding the right coach to guide this program with the same expectations.”

Poppen will take a position with the Des Moines soccer club. Clements said a national search for a replacement coach will start immediately.
